Fall Observation

We've been reading books and talking about Fall for the past couple weeks. I was inspired by the book "Science is Simple" to expand our Fall discussion by having Zara collect some more Autumn leaves and other nature items. Yesterday presented a wonderful opportunity as we met some friends at the park. First the girls fed ducks, then they used their little paper bags to collect fallen leaves and assorted objects.

After a much needed naptime (crazy girl couldn't sleep until after midnight Sat night, must of been all the chocolate beater licking), Zara helped set up an Observation Area for our science projects.

We used a small shelf tucked into a corner. We hung some of her Autumn art and created a sticky board for leaves using some contact paper sticky side out on a piece of posterboard. Zara enjoyed sticking her leaves on and experimenting to see if her other objects (sticks, tree bark, pumpkins, acorns, ect) would stick too. We plan to add things during the next couple weeks and start a new science theme after our Thanksgiving travels.

Bonus: Check out this leaf Zara drew!
