Isn't this set of Oak and Walnut playstands amazingly beautiful? My grandfather hand-crafted these for my girls and delivered them to us this past weekend all the way from MO. He followed the free plans available at Against the Grain Carving. My Grandpa said the plans weren't hard to follow and Scott from ATG was extremely kind and helpful via emails with my Grandfather about the project. When my grandfather ordered the threaded parts, Scott included a set of the the neat wooden playclips for free!
We are all thrilled with the playstands, the girls have been playing with them constantly. Zara and her friends have already come up with a half-dozen ways to play including having a lake picnic, putting her babies to sleep in bunk beds, and covering the whole thing with a sheet to be their house. I'm on the lookout for a pole of sorts to place on the hooks for a curtain that would make a perfect puppet theater. I know these playstands will be a treasured family heirloom for decades to come. I love that my girls have something to treasure that was created just for them by their Great-Grandfather, that type of special just can't be bought in a store.

LOVE those playstands - love, love! Makes me want to make friends with a carpenter so we can have some of our own ;) That blue playsilk worked beautifully as a draping, too - uncanny how much it looked like a sunny sky in that one pic!
How special that your girls will have something so wonderful and precious to pass down to their children and to remember their great-grandfather by.
